Surgical and laser scar revision by a reconstructive specialist
Scars and keloids are among the most common reasons patients seek plastic surgery. Dr. Vikram Goyal (MCh Plastic Surgery, AOCMF Fellow) has specific training in reconstructive techniques that minimise, revise and flatten abnormal scars.
Types of scars we treat
- Hypertrophic scars — raised, red scars that remain within the original wound boundary
- Keloid scars — scars that grow beyond the original wound and do not resolve on their own
- Contracture scars — scars from burns that restrict movement
- Acne scars — pitted (atrophic) or raised (hypertrophic) scars from acne
- Surgical scars — previous surgery or caesarean scars
- Post-traumatic scars — accident, injury or animal bite scars
Treatment options
Dr. Goyal assesses each scar individually and recommends one or a combination of:
- Surgical excision and re-closure with precise suturing technique
- Z-plasty or W-plasty (geometric scar rearrangement to reduce tension)
- Laser resurfacing (CO2 or Nd:YAG) for surface texture and colour
- Intralesional steroid injections for keloids and hypertrophic scars
- Silicone gel sheets and compression therapy
- Skin grafting for large contracture scars
